Mina Bilkis is the Founder & Owner of Ori.
She was inspired to start Ori from her own natural hair journey & experience. Mina went natural in 2010 & started her dreadlocks in 2012. She had trouble finding products that suited her hair texture & needs & came across the properties & benefits of Shea Butter from a colleague in 2013.
Upon her return to Sierra Leone in 2014 from the United States, Mina was discouraged to see many shelves of supermarkets & shops stocked with imported products, many of which either contained bleaching agents or harsh chemicals. Mina started making her own Shea butter body & hair products & giving samples to friends & family. After much market research & a start up capital & much encouragement from her mother, Mina started Ori (from Sierra Leone).
Mina is a firm believer in promoting local content, embracing natural beauty & changing the narrative. Mina's educational background is in French & Global Health.
